The purpose behind starting yet another Gurudwara was very specific – to have a place of worship, where the future generations of Sikhs find a very friendly environment and a great learning experience. Also a place where the traditional in-fighting that exists in most Gurudwaras, be it in India or anywhere else, does not creep in. The only place that we know in the world that is free of politics, is the Gurudwara in Bangkok, Thailand.

It was through the generosity and untiring help that we received from Mr. Joginder Shah, attorney and his associate Attorney Carol Perrin, who donated their time and effort to put together a set of by-laws, that has helped us prevent the curse of politics inside a place of worship.

The design of the Gurudwara incorporates a residential area which is divided into two units. One unit has two bedrooms, two baths and a small kitchen for making tea etc. The other unit has four bedrooms, four baths and small kitchen for tea etc.

Next, a second assembly hall has been added in the construction plans that could be used for seminars, children’s symposiums and marriages etc. Additionally a full library has been added, that will include Audio and Video recordings. Two classrooms are part of the plans, of which one will be used for music/ keertan training and the second one will be used for Punjabi Language and Gurbani classes.

Besides an administrative office, there will be two meeting rooms. One for the meetings of the members of the board of directors/ trustees and the second will be for General membership meetings.

The main congregation hall will have fixed cushion bench seats to accommodate 50 to 60 members who are unable to sit on the floor. Keeping in tune with the spirit of Sri Harmandir Sahib, there will be doors opening in all the four directions, north, south, east and west. And a PARIKRAMA has been designed around the main assembly hall.

In addition to the religious functions of the Gurudwara, it is planned that Nanak Sadan Sikh Temple will serve as a community center, where the following services would be provided:

1. A van would provide ride to the seniors twice a week to the Gurdwawa
2. Free health clinic/ checkup to the needy once a month
3. Free legal clinic once a month
4. Free Tax advise on important issues
5. Invitation to people of other faiths periodically to help create peace and understanding
